A new script by Arthur Milner imagines a private meeting between Athol “Père” Murray and Tommy Douglas. This fictional encounter occurs during Saskatchewan’s bitter Doctors’ Strike in July 1962, when doctors refused to practice, hoping to enshrine their ability to determine fees and to deny patients who couldn’t pay. Tommy and Père evokes the seething tension between opposing perspectives during those crucial 3 weeks in Saskatchewan.
This is an event in 3 parts: Installation, Play, and Post-show conversation | Event duration: 2 HRS.
