Step Back in Time: The Wascana Cultural Trailway

Wednesday, June 11, 18, 25 | 6:00-8:00 PM

Join the knowledgeable stewards of Wascana Centre and Heritage Regina as we unveil the stories etched along the shores of our cherished lake. Guests are invited to embark upon self-guided walking tours that explore the rich heritage nestled in the heart of Wascana.

As a special delight, a one-way boat ride will ferry guests across the lake—just as in days gone by—offering a scenic passage and a charming start to your history-filled stroll.

Location: boat launch in front of the Legislative Building (Legislative Landing).

All tours are free! Suggested donation of $10.00 per person to help fund Heritage Regina’s educational programming.

The Cyclone of 1912: Impacts on the “Wholesale” District

The Story of Hillsdale: A Modern Subdivision

Join us for a brand-new heritage walk! This year the Hillsdale neighbourhood celebrates its 70th anniversary. Robin Adeney shares Hillsdale’s history as a family-friendly “modern” subdivision.

Ever wonder about the large, stately homes along Albert Street? Or about the history behind the construction of the Legislative Building? Join Sarah Schuweiler-Frizzell to discover the Lakeview neighbourhood and its fascinating history.

Wascana Centre: The Humanity Behind the Park

Saturday, August 9 | 6:00 PM

Nikki Little, your guide for the evening, has been working with Will Chabun to preserve his research on Wascana Centre. Join her on this walk around the lake’s northern shore and hear tales of true crime, political drama, sports victories, and this beautiful park’s evolution.

Once Around the Park: A Geological Tour of Downtown Regina

Thursday, August 21 | 6:00 PM

Join our guide from the Saskatchewan Geological Society and discover the many varieties of stone and fossils that make up downtown’s most historic sites. You’ll gain a new appreciation for the geological history of Saskatchewan and historic building materials used prolifically in the early 1900s.

Lost Buildings of Regina

Saturday, August 23 | 6:00 PM

Explore Regina’s earliest years as Melissa Clow reveals what has vanished from view in the city’s downtown. Please note: this tour will be augmented by historical photographs shared via your cell phone.

Germantown

Thursday, August 28 | 6:00 PM

Warren James is ready to share the commercial and residential history of Germantown, an early Regina neighbourhood originally settled by central Europeans.

Learn how to explore Wascana Park through our self-guided walking tours that bring the area’s rich history to life—on your own time, at your own pace.
