Featuring the toe-tapping music of The Western Senators with special guest Grammy-winning, Polka King Walter Ostanek.
The Lieutenant Governor’s Canada Day Celebration – July 1st from 1-4 p.m. at Government House located at 4607 Dewdney Avenue in Regina. Free public parking to the east of the building.
Free of charge and fun for all ages.
On the Main Stage clap along or get up and dance to the old-time, rock and roll and country music of The Western Senators and the lively polka music of Walter Ostanek. At 89 years young Walter has been playing the accordion for eight decades and has become a Canadian musical icon with over 100 albums to his credit! In addition to three Grammys, Walter has won multiple honours from Kitchener’s world-renowned Oktoberfest, inductions into Akron’s Broadcasters Hall of Fame and the Chicago and Cleveland Polka Halls of Fame, a spot on Canada’s Walk of Fame, and the Order of Canada.

• Amazing Ukrainian dance from the Yevshan Ukrainian Folk Ballet Ensemble
• Exciting Métis jigging and square dancing from the Qu’Appelle Valley Dancers accompanied by Brian Sklar on the Fiddle
• Multicultural music from the Boomtown Community Drummers Collective
Outdoor entertainment will include the ever-popular KAOS Dogsports, Storybook Princesses and Superheroes, HMCS Queen Bouncy Castle, Saskatchewan Science Centre Shows and face painting.
There will be free popcorn and lemonade provided and other food and beverages available for purchase. Some seating available by the main stage but you are welcome to bring lawn chairs as well.
Government House will be open to visitors with cultural exhibits, classical guitarists, an art show, and a collectibles sale.4
