Do you remember sneaking popcorn into a movie at the old Metropolitan Theatre on Broad Street? Or begging your parents for a 5¢ snack on Scarth Street? If you do then you remember the Broadway Popcorn Wagon!
One of the most unique pieces in the Civic Museum of Regina’s collection is the Broadway Popcorn Wagon. The handmade cart was purchased by John Alecxe in 1929, and operated in the city by his family for the next 60 years.
Learn about the history of the cart and the experience of immigrant families in the early twentieth century with Ken Alexce, grandson of the original owner.
