Recent zoning changes will allow for up to 6 storeys of multi-family housing to be built along Albert Street from College Avenue to 25th Avenue. This impacts all properties within 200 metres (approximately 1 block) of the west side of Albert Street. In order for the city to access the federal Housing Accelerator Fund, the next proposed zoning change will allow 6-storey buildings within 800 meters of Albert Street (approximately 4 blocks).
Some residents of Regina feel that these sweeping changes are excessive, and do not properly address housing needs. We encourage all those with questions or concerns to attend the Ward 1 Community Meeting on Tuesday, May 21 to learn more and have their voice heard.
