SUMMARY:Indigenous Economic Development Day
DESCRIPTION:Join SEDA and the Saskatchewan First Nations Economic Development Network (SFNEDN) in celebrating May 6 to 11\, 2019 as Economic Development Week in the province. Indigenous Economic Development Day is May 6\, 2019 \nWe encourage you to download\, share and utilize the ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT WEEK TOOLKIT  throughout the year. \nCalendar of events for this year’s Econonic Development Week  add your event! \n  \nAs part of the 2019 Economic Development Week\, we are excited to launch the first Provincial BUSINESS WALKS. \nA “Business Walk” is a day dedicated to learning more about your local businesses through face-to-face interviews on their turf. Local leaders and key community stakeholders visit a large number of businesses with the hopes of gathering the knowledge they need to help their community and strengthen relationships. Consider a Business Walk the foundation of building relationships and networks over time. Ongoing events and reporting will help keep everyone up to date and inspired to foster a stronger business and friendlier business climate. \nYou are typically designing your Business Walks Program to: \n\nUnderstand the issues and opportunities of your existing business community\nQuickly diagnose firms on the brink of greatness or that may be at risk\nBuild long-lasting and effective working relationships between decision-makers and local businesses\nIncrease awareness of the programs and services offered by the community\, economic development office\, and other partners\nRecognize the impact and value that you place in your local businesses\nIdentify those businesses that may require assistance\n\nWe suggest First Nation\, as well as non-Indigenous communities\, showcase their urban land developments and how they are supporting Indigenous and non-Indigenous businesses. \nOur Business Walks Toolkit will be available in March to help you implement and report on your own Business Walks. It complements the comprehensive Business Retention & Expansion Implementation Guide available on request to SEDA members.
