SUMMARY:Living Heritage in Saskatchewan Sharing Series: “Beyond ‘Arts & Crafts’: The role of Contemporary Visual and Media Art Practices in conceptions of Living Heritage”
DESCRIPTION:Part of Living Heritage in Saskatchewan: A Sharing Series: \nEvery two weeks to the end of June\, join us with your coffee or tea after your lunch to learn more about living heritage.\nAt a time when we are all experiencing new ways to work and interact in new and remote ways\, the Humanities Research Institute (HRI) – University of Regina and the Living Heritage Research Cluster (which includes Heritage Saskatchewan) invite the community interested in Living Heritage in our province\, as well as UofR students and faculty\, to join us in a virtual conversation. Each session will take place through a Zoom conversation\, with presentations on a project or a researcher discussing their work around this theme. \n  \nObjectives of this series:  \n\nto better understand living heritage and come to a common understanding of what it can mean in Saskatchewan;\nto encourage sharing ideas and knowledge;\nto create awareness of projects and break down silos;\nto create the potential for common projects and collaborations between researchers and community organizations.\n\nUpcoming Sessions: \nJune 17\, 1:30-2:30pm \nRisa Horowitz \n“Beyond ‘Arts & Crafts’: The role of Contemporary Visual and Media Art Practices in conceptions of Living Heritage” \nJune 24\, 1:30-2:30pm \nCharity Marsh \n“Imagine This! Reflections on Community Radio Programming for Kids During the Covid Pandemic“ \nWe ask that you register ahead of time through Eventbrite (https://www.eventbrite.ca/e/billets-living-heritage-in-saskatchewan-a-sharing-series-106010048910). A link and password to the Zoom meeting will then be shared with you once you register. \nInvitations will follow for the two following sessions and will be available on the HRI website (http://www.humanitiesresearch.org/) and on the U of R events page. After these few sessions in May and June\, we hope this series can continue in the Fall with presentations from researchers and projects managers from community organizations as well as from the University. \nIf you have any questions or hope to contribute to this series in the future\, please contact Jérôme Melançon (jerome.melancon@uregina.ca)\, Special Advisor for the Living Heritage Research Cluster. For more information on the Research Cluster\, please see: https://www.uregina.ca/research/research-expertise/research-strengths/living-heritage.html. \nPlease feel free to share this information and invitation with anyone who might be interested! \nWe apologize for any cross postings.
