STANIOWSKI  OMM\, CD\n\nLieutenant-Colonel (LCol) Edward E. Staniowski joined the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) Primary Reserves in 1985 as an Officer Cadet in the Royal Regina Rifles (RRR). While with the RRR LCol Staniowski served as Platoon Commander\, Training Officer\, Adjutant\, Company Commander\, Deputy Commanding Officer and was the Unit’s Commanding Officer from 1998 to 2001. \n\nLCol Staniowski has served on six operational deployments including three United Nations / NATO missions with the Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry (PPCLI); Bosnia (1997)\, Croatia (1992) and the Middle East (1991). In 2004 LCol Staniowski deployed to Sierra Leone\, West Africa as the Canadian Contingent Commander with the International Military Advisor Training Team (IMATT) and was the senior Canadian advisor to the Armed Forces of Sierra Leone. In 2005 he was seconded to the ECOWAS Standby Force (ESF) CONOP Planning Team in Abuja\, Nigeria. Most recent overseas deployments were to Afghanistan (2008) with NATO’s International Stabilization Assistance Force (ISAF) as the Regional Command South\, Senior Liaison Officer (LO). In 2010 he deployed as Senior Mentor to the Afghan National Army Staff College in Kabul. Service with foreign allies included training and operations with the armies of Afghanistan\, Australia\, Denmark\, France\, Germany\, Great Britain\, Nigeria\, Sierra Leone\, the Netherlands\, New Zealand and the United States. \nLeadership courses and qualifications include CAF Advanced Infantry Classification\, the Canadian Army Operations Course (Canadian Army Command and Staff College\, Kingston)\, the Joint Command Staff Course (Canadian Forces College\, Toronto) and the New Zealand Tactics Course (New Zealand War College). \nLCol Staniowski has served as a staff officer at the Unit and Formation level in Cyprus\, Bosnia\, Denmark and Afghanistan; including the CAF Command Cell to the 2002 G8 Summit Task Force Op GRIZZLY and with the United Nations Standby High Ready Brigade (SHIRBRIG) Presidency / Command Cell in 2003 and 2005. \nLCol Staniowski retired from the CAF in 2015 as Director Reserve Training\, Canadian Army Command and Staff College\, Kingston\, Canada. Since his retirement\, he has worked with the Canadian Soldier On and US Wounded Warrior Programs.
