DESCRIPTION:What do the political activities changes mean for your organization?\nJoin us for this free webinar where you’ll learn how the Canada Revenue Agency’s draft guidance allowing unlimited public policy dialogue and development activities (P2D2As – formerly referred to as political activities) came to be\, what the changes mean\, and how your organization will be affected. \nThis webinar will be presented in English at 12:00pm EST followed by a bilingual Q&A. \nHosts\n \nSusan Manwaring\nSusan Manwaring is a recognized leading expert advising social enterprises\, charities and non-profits in her practice. Susan provides both general counsel and specialized tax advice to her clients across Canada and internationally. Susan is the national lead of the Social Impact Group at Miller Thomson and a member of the Consultation Panel on the Political Activities of Charities. \n  \n \nBill Schaper\nBill Schaper is the Director of Public Policy in Imagine Canada’s Ottawa office. In past lives he was a political staffer on Parliament Hill\, the senior policy advisor to a federal cabinet minister\, a policy analyst and GR practitioner for universities\, an independent policy consultant\, and a communications specialist for the United Kingdom’s Auditor General. \n  \nBackground\nThis past January\, the Canada Revenue Agency issued draft guidance explaining how the CRAwill administer changes to the Income Tax Act which allow charities to carry on unlimited public policy dialogue and development activities to advance their stated charitable purpose. The publication of the guidance follows Parliament passing legislation that changes the rules governing charities’ political activities. SUMMARY:2019 Saskatchewan Libraries Conference
DESCRIPTION:On behalf of the Saskatchewan Library Association (SLA)\, I invite you to participate in the Saskatchewan Libraries Conference at the Hilton Garden Inn Hotel and Convention Centre\, 90 22 St E.\, Saskatoon\, SK on Thursday\, May 2nd to Friday\, May 3rd\, 2019. \nThe theme for the Saskatchewan Libraries 2019 conference is Libraries Transform! which represents the transformative influence of libraries. As resources for lifelong learning\, libraries transform lives\, empower people and strengthen communities through diverse educational\, cultural and leisure experiences. Sessions will contribute to this conversation by sharing how libraries are transforming communities\, library spaces\, and their roles. The conference will offer a range of sessions that will be of interest to libraries of all types and all sizes in all sectors. \nOn May 1st\, we will be hosting a full day pre-conference service design workshop hosted by Saskatchewan Polytechnic\, Saskatoon Campus. On May 2nd and 3rd\, the Saskatchewan Libraries Conference will be in full swing. Highlights include an opening keynote\, the annual Mary Donaldson Memorial Lecture and a closing keynote. In addition to the featured speakers\, we are offering a research stream for the first time and it will be highlighted in the conference program. Speakers in this stream will focus their presentations on conducting\, consulting\, and\nusing research as a key aspect of their work. Libraries in all sectors benefit from incorporating research evidence into day-to-day practice.\nThe annual Saskatchewan Libraries Conference draws together information professionals throughout the province. Once again\, the conference will offer exhibitors the opportunity to discuss their products and services with key people from a wide variety of organizations. SLA encourages you to register as soon as possible. \nThe Exhibit Hall will be open on Thursday\, May 2nd for the entire day.
